I’m certain those were all drop tests. But I’m not enough of an aerodynamicist to know what went so very wrong. It could have been much worse.

It just occurred to me that in movies, the airplanes tend to bank AWAY from the released weapon. Is that just because it looks cooler on film, or has it become standard practice to avoid this kind of mishap?
